Why are so many Degri Characters on Being Erica?

Why are so many Degri characters on Being Erica? I know they are both filmed in Canada I just find it odd. So far I have seen five characters from Degri on Being Erica. Could it possibly be because both shows may have the same casting director? Sorry I know this question is random, I'm just curious. LOL.
