Putting higher octane on a car that recommends 89?

I think people are living in a fantasy. My friend useds 94 super octane on his 2009 dodge ram 1500 5.7litre 390hp 4x4 and it recommends 87 or 89 for more torque. he says that putting a higher octane level gives better milage, more power and keeps the engine running forever?? WTF?? is this true? even if it did get better milage its a fricken truck.
