My housebroken dog peed on the carpet last night.?

I came out of the bathroom and he was just lifting his leg right in front of the bathroon door. I took him outside 3 hours before. To my knowledge, he wasn't scared or nervous at all. He's been housebroken for a year at least.Do I need to crate train again?What was he trying to tell me?
